Jan. 2021 Election Fiasco
I was explaining something to Jason this evening and I thought maybe I could share it here too because it’s really been a concern on my heart. About a week after the election, I was watching the reactions of everybody not just around me but around the world and I was picking up on something that I know that I know that I know that God was showing me He has picked up on.
I believe that President Trump was really supposed to be a president for us another 4 years.
I also think there was something the church and republicans had begun that maybe just maybe God didn’t approve of. I concluded that I was very ok. I won’t say I was happy, but I am ok that he won’t be serving as our president and it’s for the sake of the church and for the Glory of God. Here’s why.
If we His Bride puts anything or anyone before Him, He will leave us to that for our salvation.
Now I am not saying ALL of us have done this, not all have put the grace and power of Trump as President over the grace and power, over the “1st chair” standing, over the kingdom authority that is ours alone through the salvation and surrender to God and His plans, and His care, and His provision for us as Christians.
Not all of us have trusted in Trump or a particular party to fix the country as well as fixing our own back yards, but enough of the church has, obviously.
Probably not on purpose either…I know all who profess to be Christian love God, but if we have changed course a little too much and have more fully relied on Trump for this ‘salvation’ of our nation than we have relied on God for its salvation, then we would still be in serious trouble if Trump would have been elected anyway!!
Does anyone else see this? I have been holding this in for several weeks. God takes care of His people, some government doesn’t. I am not completely innocent here, but He has brought me to the carpet of repentance and when I got up to look around at the outcome it all looked so very different.
If it is one thing I have learned over and over and over in my walk with God, it is this: the very second I place something or someone else in front of God as my savior…in all His loving grace He removes it.
He gives me the chance to see it, He gave the whole church the opportunity too to see this, but if I still miss that swath of grace being laid out in my life and I continue to steam forward, headstrong, eventually He steps out of the game. Yet when I finally fall because I am outside of that precious grace and I come back to Him, repent and get back on track His way…He has never ever said “well Tamra, you just took it too far that time, I have nothing else for you.” Never, not once. He opens His arms so wide and lovingly that I am physically weak from that extended and powerful mercy. Mercy is so powerful. I am so thankful for it.
I am talking about modern day idolatry, and I think it carries a variety of faces. For me, I have to watch for the face of pride in accomplishing a job well done, selfishness, placing my own needs before others, not getting a big head when I play exceptionally well during a worship set, making sure the people in my life have the things they need before I have some of the unimportant lavishes I indulge in.
We will either choose to let Trump be “god” or choose Biden to be “god”, or we will choose to let God be God, and provide, love on us, flourish us and sustain our very lives in our world today. I choose Life (Deut. 30:19)
